The Heartwood Collection is a graceful blend of Shaker-inspired simple lines and contemporary Art Deco design. The Heartwood extension dining table is constructed using premium hardwoods, such as American black cherry, rock maple, and black walnut, sustainably harvested from forests in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont. The Heartwood dining table is bench-crafted by Vermont artisans using timeless techniques, such as mortise and tenon joinery and hand sanding. Each piece of wood is carefully matched for color and grain, and can be rejected by any of the craftsmen at any time in the process. The wood is finished with a natural oil and wax blend, which protects the piece while bring out the color, grain, and depth of the wood and allowing it to age beautifully. Unlike many chemical sealants, this eco-friendly, natural finish does not produce any VOCs.

Mortise-and-tenon joinery has been used for thousands of years to join two pieces of wood at a 90 degree angle. This technique produces joinery that are both neat and strong, while hiding the joints within the timber.
