The Cable Crossing Collection from Vermont Furniture Designs draws its inspiration from suspension bridges and modern skyscrapers. The Cable Crossing Dresser is constructed of your choice of American black cherry, rock maple, and black walnut, sustainably harvested from forests in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, along with stainless steel cables and metal inlays. The dresser is bench-crafted by Vermont artisans using timeless techniques, such as mortise and tenon joinery, English dovetail drawer construction, and hand sanding. Each piece of wood is carefully matched for color and grain, and can be rejected by any of the craftsmen at any time in the process. The wood is finished with a natural oil and wax blend, which protects the piece while bring out the color, grain, and depth of the wood and allowing it to age beautifully. Unlike many chemical sealants, this eco-friendly, natural finish does not produce any VOCs.

Mortise-and-Tenon Joinery

Mortise-and-tenon joinery has been used for thousands of years to join two pieces of wood at a 90 degree angle. This technique produces joinery that are both neat and strong, while hiding the joints within the timber.

Dovetail Drawer Construction

Vermont Furniture Designs constructs its drawer boxes using solid wood with traditional English dovetail joinery. This technique is simple, beautiful, and time-tested.

Stainless Steel Pulls

Cable Crossing's stainless steel drawer pulls and detailing draws inspiration from modern urban architecture, such as suspension bridges and skyscrapers.
