Arthur Weitzenfeld started Vermont Furniture Designs in 1970, with the mission of creating the most beautiful and durable furniture possible. A self-trained craftsman, Arthur and his team blend styles from the Mission and Arts & Crafts movements with contemporary design. The team's dedication to their craft results in heirloom-quality furniture that will be passed down from one generation to the next.
Based in Burlington, VT, Vermont Furniture Designs builds on a long tradition of high quality Vermont furniture makers dating back to the 1700's. While many furniture manufacturers have shifted production offshore, Arthur recognized that he could never achieve the same level of quality, craftsmanship, and beauty through low-cost outsourcing.
Using sustainably harvested North American cherry, maple, and walnut hardwoods, each piece of furniture is bench-crafted by a small team of Vermont artisans. Time-tested techniques, such as mortise-and-tenon joinery and dovetail drawer construction, are combined with an unparalleled attention to detail and quality throughout the process. Upon completion, the wood is meticulously sanded and finished with a natural oil and wax finish based on linseed oil. This natural product brings out the color, grain, and depth of the hardwoods used in the manufacturing process.
We're proud to include this beautiful line of furniture in the Homespun story. We believe you'll love and appreciate Vermont Furniture Designs furniture as much as we do.
