How Do We Choose Our Makers?

American Furniture, Makers

A lot of people ask us, "Where do you find your makers?" Well, sometimes we seek them out, and sometimes they find us. But no matter what, we only know it's a good match if:

  • They make their furniture 100% in the U.S.A. Nothing is made in China and then brought back for assembly. Our furniture artisans craft their pieces through every step of production. Every joint, every plane, every coat of finish is completed here in the America.
  • They care about design. We curate our selection to showcase products that are truly heirloom-worthy, classic designs that will stand the test of time.
  • They care about their materials and where they come from. Most of our makers source their products as locally as they can, using American Cherry, Walnut, Oak, Poplar and other woods grown in American forests. They also care about sustainable harvesting, and some prefer to recycle by using reclaimed wood.
  • They care about quality. Our makers are artists. They perfect their craft and take the time and care to use the best techniques for durability and quality.  You will find telltale signs of craftsmanship in each piece, such as beautifully made dovetail drawer construction, mortise-and-tenon joints, and hand sanded finishes that are incredibly smooth to the touch.
